Group Art Therapy

Group art therapy provides a supportive space where individuals can explore emotions and experiences through creative expression alongside others.

About

Creativity can be a powerful way to connect—not only with ourselves, but with others. Group art therapy offers a supportive environment where individuals can explore emotions, share experiences, and grow together through the creative process.

Group art therapy brings people together in a safe, respectful space where art becomes a tool for expression, reflection, and connection. Through drawing, painting, collage, and other creative activities, participants can explore their thoughts and feelings in ways that don’t always require words.

The Group Experience

Art therapy groups are not about artistic skill or talent. They are about the experience of creating and reflecting together.

In each session, participants are guided through creative exercises designed to encourage self-expression and personal insight. Group members are invited—but never pressured—to share their artwork and reflections if they feel comfortable.

Being part of a group can help participants:

  • Feel less alone in their experiences

  • Gain new perspectives from others

  • Build confidence in self-expression

  • Develop supportive connections

  • Learn new coping strategies through creative exploration

The group setting creates a sense of community where individuals can feel heard, supported, and respected.

Who Group Art Therapy Is For

Group art therapy may benefit people who are:

  • Experiencing stress or anxiety

  • Navigating life transitions

  • Seeking connection with others

  • Exploring personal growth and self-awareness

  • Looking for a creative and supportive therapeutic environment

No previous art experience is needed—just an openness to try something new.

My Approach

Groups are facilitated in a structured yet flexible way to ensure everyone feels safe and included. Creative activities are designed to encourage exploration while respecting each person’s comfort level and boundaries.

The focus is on the process of creating, rather than the final artwork.
